Pandora (Pagellus erythrinus)
is a sea bream rare in northern European waters, but common in the Mediterranean and southern Biscay. Lives over sand and mud, usually close to rock outcrops. Feeds on small crustaceans, molluscs and fish.
Slender bodied, with a relatively small head and pointed snout and large mouth. Body orange-red on back and upper sides, pinkish below fading to silver. Lateral line pale blue, blue also present on back and base of dorsal fin. Eye and pectoral fin yellow, edge of gill covers red.
