Mackerel – Spanish (Scomber japonicus), can be found world wide in tropical and warm temperate seas, rare visitor to Northern Atlantic. Common in the Mediterranean and off Portugal where it is fished for commercially. Schooling fish coming inshore during warm seasons, feeding on crustaceans and small fish.
Back greeny-blue with faint wavy dark lines extending down sides. Lower sides and belly silver white with numerous dusky spots on sides.
