Medium sized sea bream species found in the Eastern Atlantic from Bay of Biscay down to South Africa, also Mediterranean and Black Sea. Colouration silver with two distinct dark stripes, one above operculum area and one close to base of tail fin.
Normally found in shallower waters, rarely deeper than 50 metres, over sandy or rocky areas. Feeds on a variety of crustaceans, molluscs and worms.
