Relatively small species of sea bream living over rocky bottoms, usually in shallower water. Found in Mediterranean and Eastern Atlantic as far north as Portugal. Primarily feeds on crustaceans and molluscs. Minor sport fish.
Colouration pinkish red with distinctive white/silver stripes, rarely growing above 3kgs.
