The Dentex Bream is an important food fish, which inhabits hard bottoms (rock or rubble) down to about 200 metres in depth. It is however usually found in shallower water of less than 50 metres.

Adult Dentex Bream are solitary but the young tend to shoal up. It feeds on molluscs, small fish and cephalopods.
